Hello all I am sorry that I have been AWOL recently life has a way of doing that to me occasionally.

Any who I really could use your advise on what computer to buy. I am looking to buy either a Laptop or a IPAD. I am leaning towards a Laptop just because I don't want to spend that type of money.

Basically I will need it for gaming and other stuff. But gaming is the major reason for the computer.

Therefore I am looking for a deal. I have been watching Craigslist when I have come to the realization that I have no idea what I am doing.

I know there is a lot of expertize in the people on this board.

Thank you in advance I am sure you will give me great advise.

OMG OMG I can't believe that I forgot to post this.

Today is my Wedding anniversary. For the few that were around back then it was 19 years ago today that I married my lovely wife at the Niagara Falls Air force base.

And it was 19 years ago plus a few days that I got drunk out of my mind at my bachelor party.




Ah I kind of remember it well.

Well... it'd be easier to answer the question if you could tell us what your budget range is first... An iPad can be had for anywhere between $399 to $829, dependent on model. But don't count on it being a replacement for a computer...

Sorry to take so long to reply yesterday was busy. Me and the Misses went out to Outback Steakhouse.

I was going to take her to to Wendy's but she told be to read between the lines.


First off I am trying to make a smart purchase but I am looking for a deal.


Any how How much am I willing to spend probably between $400 and $600.

Ok I am cheap I just don't want to spend alot of money on a computer that I am primarily buying to go gaming.



I have to admit price aside I liked the idea of buying a Ipad, but when it comes to gaming I have a feeling that a Laptop would work better and cost less.




Best buy had a Asus 14" Laptop w/ 4GB Memory 500 GB hard drive for $370 but that is w/out Microsoft Office which will cost an additional $100. Also I am sure this is there low price leader and then they talk most people into buying something else.


Lastly when buying something you are not familiar with it is often a good idea to know what to avoid. What are the red flags that should tell me "Danger Danger Will Robinson"

Thankyou very much. Unfortunately I have to re-evaluate how much I am going to spend because we have just come into some money recently. I will probably will be able to afford what ever computer I can justify. Meaning if a $1000 computer is so totally awesome I can justify spending that kind of money to my self and the better half I might just go that way. Sorry to change to rules in mid stream but this just happened.

The extra money is good .. because if you are buying a computer for gaming, you hav e to be really careful. Your primary concerns are going to be three-fold... RAM, 4GB MINIMUM, Video Card - 256MB Min but I would try to stay 512MB+ .. and CPU .. CORE 2 DUO minimum .. 2.4Ghz .. and as much VRAM as possible. Your Graphics Cards should really be a card, not an intergrated to the motherboard PoS... what games are you running or planning to run and I will list your specs.

Thanks for the input but I need to clarify some things.

I when I say I am buying the computer for gaming I am not talking about computer games but to use during John's game on Sunday. Also so I can play the game remotely like some of you do.

Finally I did buy a computer already last weekend. I bought a Dell Inspiron 17R the base price for the computer was $590 plus tax and shipping. I don't think I did too bad.


Well I hope to show you all at gaming this weekend.
